Caturday

Good morning, Jayne! It’s Caturday!

Is that going to hurt? Because I already have pain in all the diodes down my left side.

What? You don’t even have any diodes. Anywhere. I mean – no. No, it’s not going to hurt.

Good. Then I'll be in my bunk.

I’m… just not going to think about that too much.

WiP Wednesday #31

I’m linking up for “Work In Progress Wednesday.” My projects this last week have been kind of random. Shocking, isn’t it?

I had a lot of fun working on mini quilts. This one is from some vintage fabric from my mom’s stash. I tried a little random machine quilting, since this quilt is actually small enough to fit in the harp of my sewing machine. I think it’s kind of fun, but I’ll have to do a hand-quilted version so I’ve got something to compare it to.

Can you believe the detail on this print?

I thought the stripe on back was kind of fun.

I also did a stack of potholders, just because. The grey fabric is Jay McCarroll’s “Love Tomatoes.” I really appreciate his fabric line – it’s always quirky and fun.

I’m slowly but surely approaching that allegedly magical number of item listings in my Etsy shop. Anyone else having a little trouble getting to 100 items? I’d welcome suggestions and/or advice for getting there.

Not much progress on my big quilts, this week.

Caturday

I’ve decided it’s high time we started celebrating Caturday around here. Who’s with me?

Does "Caturday" mean I have to get out of bed?

No, Maggie. Just the opposite.

Excellent.

Well, there’s one vote.

WiP Wednesday #30

Welcome to “Work In Progress” Wednesday. I’ve been busting out little bags this last week. They’re quick, cheerful, and they make me happy. I really love getting to pick buttons to go on them. It’s nice to have something fast and easy to counter-balance the longer projects.

Using up cheerful, small pieces of fabric is a lot of fun.

These buttons made me think of lifesavers.

I've had this scrap of fabric forever. It feels good to use it.

And one more, just because I can.

I thought the gold accents were a lot of fun.

WiP Wednesday #29

Welcome to “Work In Progress” Wednesday. My goal for May is to get this Garfield quilt done. It’s been a real exercise in repeating the mantra, “It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” If I insist on it being perfect, it will never get finished. That doesn’t mean I’m intentionally being sloppy, just that I’m not going to go back and rip out an entire seam because the stitch lengths are marginally too long/too short/imperfect in some other way.

A sample of the stitches in question.

A shot of the border.

I’m having a lot of fun with this quilt, and I can’t wait to finish it and see what it looks like on the bed.
